Aim high, for the stars they say,
But the stars are impossible, says me.
Why don’t I aim to be higher, better, stronger
than what I was yesterday instead?
For goals are best seen closer
an intimate connection to you
rather than something unreal, something you know
will never happen…
Be ambitious they say, be the best among the rest,
but isn’t ambition a never ending journey
of constant dissatisfaction
of where you have reached today?
Why don’t I aim to be higher, better, stronger
than what I was yesterday instead?
For ambitions are best realized together
complementary, rather than through competition,
Growing together, a common dream, a common destination
of peace, harmony and realization.
There is no silver, they say,
only aim for the gold…
For no one remembers second-best…
But is life such a race,
where only one triumphs,
while the rest languish in defeat?
Why don’t I aim to be higher, better, stronger
than what I was yesterday instead?
For races are meant to be enjoyed,
and everyone gets the gold
who improves even a little
upon their previous attempts…
both at work, and at play
It is the fighter who wins
It is the ambitious who comes first
It is the one who aims for the stars
So say those who have seen life a little,
but not lived enough.
Why don’t I aim to be higher, better, stronger
than what I was yesterday instead?
Why don’t I aim to be higher, better, stronger
than what I was yesterday instead?
