Karate is an art...

that combines the ying and the yang, the hard and the soft, the kata and the Kumite…

Yog is a way of life, that combines asanas (postures) and pranayama ( breathing), mudras (gestures) and bandhas (body locks)…

Breathing is an essential part of Kyokushin, but unexplored due to the constant focus on Kumite.

While Kumite is the blood of Kyokushin, nogare breathing is it’s life force.

Off late, Kyokushin has been all about branches and branch chiefs, and little about the art. I am not affiliated to any branch, or any chief. I am affiliated to the art of Kyokushin, one that was of Sosai Oyama’s, and one that he left behind for us to develop, and improve.

Not with weight category tournaments and 20 branches, but with self-improvement and taking the art to the next level…by pushing your limits and discovering more.

Throwing a punch is not the objective of Kyokushin … defeating the evil of bad thoughts, bad beliefs, laziness and bad action is the essence of all martial arts. You can throw a thousand punches, practice a thousand katas, have multiple dans on your belt and multiple titles to your name, but you may not have even begun your true training in Kyokushin.

Introspect, re-discover your art, and take it to the next level. I am doing it myself, and I invite you to do it too.

A dan gives you external recognition, but a white belt presents you a whole new world of opportunity.

Wake up a white belt everyday, and use your experiences and your practice to define your progress.

That is the true Kyokushin spirit.
