At the top of Everest…every single day.

The mind is beautiful because of the paradox. It uses itself, to understand itself.

– Adam Elenbass

The life you seek is hidden inside the discipline you avoid.

– Epictetus

Brilliance is the ability to simplify a mass amount of information into a simple yes/no decision.

– Warren Buffet

I came across these three quotes today and thought of sharing them with you.

When during the course of a single day, you read about Elon Musk making 300 billion dollars (just for the day), in other words, more than double the net worth of Mukesh Ambani, and more than what Buffet made in a lifetime, you begin to question the point of it all. There is no way the rest of the 8 odd billion people can measure up to such benchmarks – it’s pure insanity to even think of it.

But as humans, we always wish to be at the pinnacle – the apex of it all. Small wonder that thousands attempt the Everest conquest every year. Is it possible though? Should one set oneself up on a path that is most likely destined to fail?

The answer, I do not have. But I know that anyone who gives it his or her best effort, can never fail. As my master used to say – you may not hit the target…but you will never miss. Between the ever piling stack of work on one side, and the superhuman feats of achievement on another, lies either mediocrity that we end up with, or our life’s best work every single day. You just have to choose:)

I leave you with a delightful web article that I chanced upon earlier today. If you ever wanted to have an example of the beauty of human invention and ingenuity, look no further than a mechanical watch – a small, yet complicated machine that has undergone so many iterations, yet works on principles that were arrived at more than a hundred years ago. And no one has explained it better than Bartosz Ciechanowski. If you choose to read just one thing this week – don’t read my blogs. Read this.
