A book on just snippets?

I have been working on a solution for myself – a tool that will store and automatically categorize all that I read from various sources, kind of an AI-powered Evernote. As I go through the days and months, I find myself keeping multiple browser tabs open, making many bookmarks and highlighting so many sections in so many books that I read on my iPad. All nice and saved, but little use without sorting and being available at the right time when I need to revisit them. Lets hope I get this done fast, and well, and then maybe I will put it out there for you too:)

Off late, I have been using a temp solution – my trusted Notes app on Apple. Here is where I save, among other things, a few snippets that form a good and fast read. Here is an idea as I type this out – why not make a book just on snippets? Categorise them using tech will be easy – what say? Anyone game to work with me on this?

In the meanwhile, here are a few that I saved just today. Enjoy!

ŻAL (Polish)

Melancholy felt at an irretrievable loss. This is not straightforward dejection. Żal is fickle, and shifts its shape, one moment resigned, the next rebellious. It combines the disappointment, regret and even violent fury which comes when some part of our lives has been taken away for good. It is most of all a kind of anger at recognizing the end of things.

Buddha says:

When someone calls you bad,
that is their story.

When someone calls you good,
that is also their story.

Your only job is to know
who you are
when no one is speaking.

I noticed something:

People who have traveled a lot tend to judge less. Not because they became nicer, but because they’ve seen too many versions of what’s “normal.”

In one country, it’s normal to eat with your hands.
In another, it’s normal to stay quiet at the table.
In a third, it’s normal to hug strangers.

When you’ve seen 30 different versions of “the right way,” you stop believing yours is the only one.

Travel doesn’t just teach geography. It teaches tolerance.
