Violence loves me?

The most violent men call this man the most violent…

Excusable grammar aside, it’s troubling to see such language being celebrated as watchable cinema. I mean, a one-of KGF kind of movie is digestible, but when every second movie starts looking the same and has the same blood budget, then it is a cause for concern. I mean, people have gone back to axes as their weapon of choice, the Glocks of the world be damned. Oh yes, there is the cannon gun that was used in Kaithi, Vikram, Leo (possibly, I don’t remember much of that movie) and then a monstrous version of it in Animal…

But axes rule, replacing the (humble?) sickle from the cinema of yore.

Why are our kids being exposed to such increasing degrees of mindless violence masquerading as cinema? All the chop-suey in the world, splattering of blood and chopping of limbs – how in God’s good name is this entertaining? If it is to some people, then that is even more worrying. What is society coming to?

I hope this is just a phase. I think sane people will sooner than later, get sick of the body count. And return to stories that are worth telling. What say?
