Time flies past, doesn’t it?

Time flies past, doesn’t it?

The hair that you struggled to control and style

now you have to find a hundred ways to stop it from falling

Food takes longer to go through you, most times it just becomes part of you

and refuses to leave, never mind all that exercise that you pretend to do

Time flies past, doesn’t it?

Beyond the clichés and the stated obvious

Time really does move faster than your attention towards it

Children grow up before you can spend enough time with them

Friends grow apart before you had a chance to get bored of them

Time flies past, doesn’t it?

You stand closer to your end than the beginning

and yet most of it you spend in yesterday, reminising

and lamenting about lost dreams and fruitless pursuits

Time flies past, doesn’t it?

The more you want to pause it, slow it down a little

the faster it goes, a futile exercise

and it all adds up, and compounds the loss

Yes, time does fly past, and fast

the sooner we accept it, the slower we see it go past

possibly even savor the moments that make up our hours and days

possibly even let go of yesterday and embrace the unknown of tomorrow

but more importantly, possibly even see the gift of the present

and live

in every moment

that life offers us

for then, time doesn’t fly, nor run, nor walk

but just stays still, watching you do your thing

for now time isn’t a factor of concern

what you have in front of you, with you, in you – IS.

The beauty of karma yoga, and the joy of doing

eclipses everything else, even time.
