A few days back I had written on how I found big changes easier to make by using the power of compounding incremental changes everyday.
Tomorrow, I stand to make a big change – giving up sugar in all its forms, for an undetermined period of time.
This means no sweets, no chocolates, no ice cream, no sugar in tea, coffee, or any other direct or (as much as possible) indirect means. Not any day, not even on occasions or festivals. A blanket ban.
I have linked this to something that I plan to achieve, towards which I am and will continue to work diligently. What this is – will tell you when the time comes. What matters today is that I need to back those targets with a firm commitment – which I have now made.
Those who know me will gladly tell you how difficult this step may seem – but those who really know me will also know that this is a very easy thing for me to do. I gave up meat and fish in a heartbeat, so sugar would be easy peasy. The tough part is keeping away from all those excuses that others come up with to convince me otherwise:)
I have also learned that an easier way to commit to something is to make a public declaration of it – that way, you are at the very least, held accountable to that very statement in case you try to do a volte-face. And so I’ve made the declaration:)
Wish me luck!
