We are but the sum total of the choices we make,
so they say…
We choose our friends, from the time we set foot in kindergarten
through our school, college and beyond…
we choose the food we eat, some we relish, some we don’t,
we choose what we wear, and have our own personal style,
we choose the way we react to people, the way we take what they tell us…
we choose who to spend our lives with, based on what we feel about them,
We are but the sum total of the choices we make,
so they say…
We choose our friends, from the way they react to us, from the way they respond to us,
we choose the food we eat, based on what we ate as kids, with family…
we choose what we wear, based on the peers we move with, and ads on the television,
we choose the way we react to people, based on our opinions of them, and judgements about them…
we choose who to spend our lives with, based on mutual compatibility, heart and head working together.
We are but the sum total of the choices we make,
so they say…
But do these choices make us, or does what we are inherently lead us to these choices?
What comes first? the choice, or the personality?
The influence, or the decision?
Would we be different if we chose differently? How different would we be?
We are but the sum total of the choices we make,
so they say…
The choices we make shape our lives
the choices we make lead to our destiny
the choices we make affect everyone close to us,
the choices we make, determine our future.
So choose well, choose wisely,
for we are not just the sum total of the choices we make,
but we are the sum total of their consequences as well.
