OF qasbaas and collabs…

Went back to Al Qasba Sharjah today, after more than 10 years.

Beautiful place, even without the Ferris wheel that once was the star attraction here. I wasn’t a fan of the ride though – was too slow and protected, for someone who has grown up taking thrill rides on the ‘Giant Wheel’ of yesteryears – the Indian version that mostly lives on a prayer and little else.

Today, four weeks after we last met, the team converged on the emirate of relative peace, to meet again as survivors of the not so pleasant month and a few that had just passed by. Not as dramatic, but well, while I am at it:) Did have a good catch up, some collab, some discussions.

Speaking of collabs, I happened to watch Tu Yaa Main on Netflix. Have stopped at the interval block (kid back home) but must say that what I have seen till now has been very enjoyable. A pleasant surprise, this Shanaya Kapoor. I did mention her in an earlier blog post – the debutant nepo in waiting, in not so flattering words. Happy to eat them. Shanaya has aced her well-written role – so much that it is tough to imagine anyone else in it. So has the boy, but the director takes the cake. This is not exactly path-breaking cinema, but is quite enjoyable. Also looks fantastic – a big relief from the Prashant Neel color grading that has been hogging our screens from the past few years. Can’t wait to get back to finish the thing, once Keshav goes to sleep.

So yes, a Friday well spent – meetings, conversations and movies – what more can one ask for?

See you tomorrow!
