Just a day?

A company is made by its employees…

In our case it’s largely made by its women:))

I don’t subscribe to the idea of a day to celebrate women. Why just one day? And why not celebrate men as well? Rather, the idea of the day I assume is to highlight the contribution of women to society, our lives, and well it’s quite sad that we need to be reminded of something that’s fundamental to our existence.

I believe that as a company, I always wanted to promote skill development and bring out the potential of people who work with us. Incidentally, we did find a segment that was largely overlooked – the homemaker.

Talented, eager to make a career, but unable to do so due to travel and timing constraints. Also, some were removed from the work force, so the gap too played a big part in employability.

We decided that this segment was too important to leave out. Fast forward to today – 90% of our staff in India are women, and over 65% in Dubai.

And they have proven to be exceptional. Dedicated, diligent and very very talented.

So today, on this placeholder day, I would like to remind our own selves that empowerment comes from within, and that we have to give equal opportunities to make such talent shine. No one day to celebrate the giver of lives – everyday is a day when we should celebrate the presence of women. And not just celebrate – give them avenues to express themselves and the world will be a better place.
