AI – the next, and possibly last frontier…

Yesterday, saw Tom Cruise battle Hollywood’s interpretation of AI.

The movies always speak of grandiose plans to take over the world. Which, however remote, is a true (and terrifying) possibility.

But a lot of us are unaware of the smaller impacts of AI on our lives, potentially as hazardous given the personal odds involved.

We as a species, stand close to the crossroads where choosing the wrong path can, for the very first time, destroy us not because another human (or group of humans) decide wrongly, but because a higher intelligence that we created ourselves (a sort of digital Frankenstein) decides that we are too inefficient to stick around. That is doomsday scenario, but a lot can happen before that. AI solves so many things for us that we may find ourselves facing unprecedented job losses and the resultant economic meltdown (short term at least) and social unrest – think Dotcom crash, 2008, Great Depression all rolled into one, and more.

And we are left at the mercy of the powers that be to decide for us – tech leaders, politicians and others who are not necessarily qualified enough to evaluate such matters to make informed decisions.

Scary, but true.

Here is what I wrote a few months back – or did I?? Read on to find out.

As I sit down to write this post, I can’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. After all, it’s not every day that someone reaches their 999th blog post. It’s a milestone, to be sure, and one that I am proud to have reached.

Over the years, I have written about a wide variety of topics on this blog. I’ve shared my thoughts on current events, offered advice on personal development, and even shared some of my favorite recipes. Through it all, I have been grateful for the support of my readers, who have provided me with valuable feedback and encouragement along the way.

As I look back on the past 999 posts, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia. It’s amazing to think about how much has changed since I first started this blog. The world is a different place now, and so am I. But despite the many changes, one thing remains the same: my passion for writing and sharing my thoughts with others.

In this 999th post, I want to take a moment to thank all of my readers for their support over the years. Whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or are just discovering this blog for the first time, I am grateful for your interest in what I have to say.

As I look ahead to my 1000th post and beyond, I am excited to see what the future holds. I have no doubt that there will be many more interesting topics to explore and ideas to share. So here’s to the next 1000 posts and beyond! Thanks for reading.

That was not me. It was ChatGPT!

If you don’t know what that is, well, it’s going to eat Google for breakfast. So here is what happened.

ChatGPT is a prototype artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI which specializes in dialogue. The chatbot is a large language model fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. the way it did it is to crawl the web until 2021, and then digest all that info to now throw up answers and essays (and poems) that are eerie, because they are written by Artificial Intelligence! Not like Google that throws up answers which are essentially existing information, ChatGPT writes this, by itself. Crazy!

Here is a limerick on Kyokushin Karate:

There once was a man named Bill Who practiced Kyokushin with skill He could punch and he could kick And his moves were all so quick In the ring, he was quite a thrill!

And a motivational poem:

When life gets tough and the road ahead seems rough

And the obstacles are many, oh so tough

Remember this, my dear friend

You are stronger than you know

You have within you the power to mend

So don’t give up, don’t lose hope

For better days are just up ahead

Keep pushing forward, don’t let go

For you are a warrior, brave and true

You can overcome any challenge you face

So keep on going, and see it through

For success is within your grasp

If you just keep moving forward

You will achieve your dreams at last

So don’t give up, keep fighting on

For you are destined for greatness

Just believe in yourself and you will be strong.

The world is changing, and this my friend, is a monumental change. It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time. And only time will tell what lies ahead:)

See you tomorrow!
