And it’s competition time.

Competition time is upon us!

The annual November 30*30 (30 days of 30 minutes exercise per day) is a month away, and we have decided to have a (not so) friendly competition within the team. Not only that, but we will take this a notch higher. For fairness, we will have an app (made in-house) that can take in screenshots/inputs of exercises completed, and apply weights on data in a way that higher difficulty is rewarded more – better heart rates, calories burned etc. More than clocking mere steps/time. The leaderboard will be updated daily and the more data provided, the better!

Rumor has it that I am the man to beat. Well…what can I say? Rumors are not always false:)

Jokes apart, this brings back fond memories of the times I really trained hard – my karate fighting days, especially the 1997 Bangalore Tournament that I had won. Fighters usually train hard 45 days before big tournaments, I trained for 6 months with the same intensity. Three hours a day, 600 kicks a day, 200 pushups, 200 squats, and 200 sit ups a day…bag practice, weight training…the works.

Had to prove a point, coz no one believed that a lanky bespectacled guy like me would be able to win a Kyokushin Knockout tournament. The passion, focus and dedication that I put into those six months serves me well till today – after all, Kyokushin is not about fighting, it’s about the fighting spirit!

Cut to today, and a new challenge that I hope rekindles that spirit in me – it already has in fact. Friendly competition, but a competition none the less. And I play to win:) I would love it if my team beats me, but I won’t make it easy…far from it. Practice begins on the 1st of October. One month before the actuals.

Somethings bring out the best in you. This November, I hope that it brings out the fighting spirit in each one of you too. I will be there to cheer you on…possibly from the finish line:p

All the best!
