Random musings on a given Sunday…

Was a bit of an adventurous Sunday.

Well, almost.

We set out to Al Qudra Lake and religiously followed Google Maps, regardless of the street signs showing a slightly different detour. And well, we did end up at a lake, but it was the Expo lake, not Qudra.

A good drive, except for the last 10 kilometers which was off-road, and I am not an off-road type of person, so…

A lot of reading, a lot of eating, and a bit of planning. A touch of seeing as well. And Sunday comes to a close.

Some learning too. We had dinner at a Vietnamese joint in JLT (good food, bad service) and there were a couple of Vietnamese families that had got together at the neighboring table. I noticed that the children, as part of their first greetings, touched the elder’s hands and touched them to their forehead as a gesture of respect – the Viet Charan Sparsh equivalent. A bit of desk research (ChatGPT) led me to its apparent origins in the teachings of Confucius (around 1st Century BCE). Interesting how some cultures still keep their traditions alive, and some others resort to high-fives in an attempt to appear ‘cool’ to the younger ones.

Some planning in the head on the upcoming annual Mata ki Chowki that we intend to hold next month. And yes, on the week ahead.

In all, a Sunday well spent.

See you tomorrow!
