So how does one start Day 1 again?
The 30*30 formally commenced today – 30 minutes of exercise into 30 days. Dubai’s pathbreaking initiative to drive residents to fitness. I must say, it is a fantastic thought, and has been very successful. Our firm too participates, and so workout gear is taken out and dusted, arm memberships reactivated and fitness trackers fully charged – it’s time to move!
I did a test run (not run as in run though) yesterday at the resort where we were, staff, family and all. 87 minutes of moderate to heavy exercise. Hands and chest muscles are sore, and that feels great!
Today did more of the lower body, and so my legs formally joined the pain party. Tomorrow, it will mostly be Karate and Pranayama, not necessarily in that order, or even together for that matter.
So does fitness constitute only exercise?
For many, fitness means a trip to the gym, workout wear, Stanley mug in hand, and treadmill away. But that is a very narrow look at fitness. A more holistic viewpoint should take into consideration everything that makes the body and mind happy, supple, and in great shape. Yoga is a much more all-encompassing process than a treadmill, and working your mind is more essential that merely working your body.
A healthy body is a product of a healthy mind, and vice-versa.
Tip for today – lock in your meal times. Mine are 7:30 breakfast, 12:30 lunch and 7:30 dinner. This one small step can go far in moderating your calorie intake, as well as regulate your weight. Of course, what you eat too plays a role, but consistency in meals helps the body prepare well.
Looking forward to Day 2!
